I tutor individual adult students in our county's literacy program, and I want you to know what a hit your books are with my students. They read them with enthusiasm and can't wait for the next chapter. They relate to the characters completely, and they thoroughly enjoy the humor and the richness of the character development. We laugh out loud together frequently, and this relaxes them and helps them feel less inhibited about reading aloud to me.

I expected that my male students would enjoy the series, but I have been amazed that my female student is the biggest fan of all. She will stay longer than required just to read another chapter or two aloud, and she is the most shy of all my students.

Thanks for making these available. I hope you are working on many more volumes of Junkyard Dan and that you will develop additional series in the future.

Elise, I totally get your purpose of putting out cool books for to help struggling readers learn to read, but your books are more than that! Your books are a self esteem tool, a career advancement tool, an SLD tool, a Drop out prevention tool, and an intervention to gangs. Your books are more than just fun...they are a life raft for an alarming portion of the at risk kids that I am so passionate about reaching!!!! Every YMCA, after school program and community program needs your books!

The Junkyard Dan novels turned my students from resisters to readers. These engaging stories that are easy to read caught their attention and kept it.

Once one student read the first Junkyard Dan novel and moved onto the second, I had to buy extra sets because of the number of students asking to read them.

Boys who never wanted to read before were asking to take the books home so they could finish them.
