I've been tutoring a 26 year old "kid," an inmate in a correctional facility, to improve his marginal reading skills. He loves the first in the Junkyard Dan series. As he tells me often, "this will be the first book I've ever read." I'm writing to tell Elise Leonard what a great idea she had to do the series, and how "on target" she is in the approach, humor, content and "voice" of the narrator. Beautifully done. | I teach 6, 7 and 8th grade Resource Literacy. My students are reading between K-3rd grade level. I have really struggled to find books that are interesting to them (not my dog fetched the ball), and are at their level. Our wonderful Media Specialist knew of you and the series from working at a Juvenile Prison. He ordered your books and hoped that my kids would like them. The books came in yesterday, and I shared a few with my classes, and all of my boys have already been to the library and checked them out!!
