The Junkyard Dan series is perfect for adult learners with low literacy skills. Gone are the days of Hop on Pop in an Adult Education classroom! These books were especially written for adults. When I introduced them to my class I heard the usual…."I hate books." But, to my surprise…(not really, because I read the books myself) they loved them. Several students said “I have never read an entire book in my life, until now.” Many of them have read all of the books in the series, and are looking forward to the new releases. | When I took my first look at the Junkyard Dan series I could hardly wait to share them with teachers at my school. I had spent years as a teacher trying to find reading material for my very low reading level high school students. These students were embarrassed to read the books that were at their reading level but could not read well enough to read even low level high school material. Junkyard Dan is perfect for these kids. I'm the librarian now and I bought several sets of Junkyard Dan books and workbooks to share. We are using them in ISS and in reading classes (regular and ESE). Teachers tell me their students love them and that no one minds being seen reading these books. You can expect us to order every new book Nox Press offers. | During open house in August the majority of the parents told me flat out, ”My child hates to read.” Virtually all of these students are now avidly reading your books. I’ve never seen anything like in all the thirty five years that I’ve taught “at risk” students!!!
